  1. CONTACT PLUS SHAREWARE INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS
  2.  
  3. Welcome to the Contact Plus 2.17 shareware program.  This brief file 
  4. is intended to show you how to install Contact Plus on your hard disk.
  5.  
  6. The enclosed file CPLUS217.EXE is self-extracting, that is, the program
  7. and data files are compressed into the file CPLUS217.EXE to save disk space.
  8. When you run the CPLUS217.EXE program, the following files will be created:
  9.  
  10.  C.HLP        - Contact Help file (help messages displayed when F1 is pressed)
  11.  CBACKUP.BAT  - Backup batch file using the PKZIP command
  12.  CBACKUP.XXX  - Backup batch file using the COPY command only
  13.  CONTACT.1    - sample mail/merge file
  14.  CONTACT.2    - sample mail/merge file
  15.  CONTACT.3    - sample mail/merge file
  16.  CONTACT.LBL  - sample mailing label template file
  17.  CONTACT.FRM  - sample letter template
  18.  CONTACT.DT   - actual Contact Plus data file
  19.  CONTACT.HDR  - Contact Plus parameters (screen colors, printer type, etc.)
  20.  CONTACT.NOT  - Contact Plus notefile
  21.  CONTACT.NT0  - Contact Plus notefile index file
  22.  CONTACT.NX0  - Contact Plus index file
  23.  CONTACT.NX1  - Contact Plus index file
  24.  CONTACT.NX2  - Contact Plus index file
  25.  CONTACT.NX3  - Contact Plus index file

  33. We suggest that you install using the following steps:
  34.  
  35.    1) Create a directory on your hard disk called \CONTACT using 
  36.       the "make directory" command.  Type MKDIR \CONTACT then press ENTER.
  37.  
  38.    2) Change to the \CONTACT directory using the "change directory"
  39.       command.  Type CD \CONTACT then press ENTER.
  40.  
  41.    3) Extract the Contact Plus program.  Type CPLUS217 then press ENTER.
  42.  
  43.       The Contact Plus files will be extracted and the screen will look 
  44.       something like the following:

  73.    4) Print out the instruction file READ.ME.  First make sure that your
  74.       printer is online and ready then type COPY READ.ME PRN.
  75.  
  76.       The instruction file will be printed out.
  77.  
  78.    5) If you have the PKZIP.EXE program available, Contact Plus will take
  79.       advantage of that when backing up the Contact Plus database.  In
  80.       this case simply answer 'Y' when exiting the system and you are 
  81.       prompted to backup the database
  82.  
  83.       If you don't have PKZIP.EXE, issue the following command from
  84.       the /CONTACT directory: 
  85.       
  86.           COPY CBACKUP.XXX CBACKUP.BAT
  87.  
  88.       The PKZIP command will NOT be used to make a backup copy of the database.
  89.       You really ought to get a registered copy of PKZIP ... its very handy 
  90.       and can be used to backup other programs and databases as well. 
  91.  
  92.    6) To run Contact Plus, simply enter C then press ENTER.
  93.
